Pittsburgh Weekend Activities – February 8
The temperature this week has regressed back down to more typical winter numbers, but it’s still far from frigid and the cool climate makes for perfect running weather. Take advantage of this global warming phenomenon by partaking in the Valentine’s Day 5k & 5 Miler at North Park. Both races take place Saturday morning at 10:00 and are a great way to burn some calories and get an early head start on getting back into shape. This event benefits the RSG1 Brain Fund at Children’s Hospital, and although I really know nothing about it, I’m sure it’s a deserving cause.
Valentine’s Day isn’t actually until Tuesday, but Saturday evening is really the most optimum night to take your sweetie out on the town. This way you can stay up late without worrying about getting up and going to work in the same clothes you had on the day before with your underwear crumpled in your purse. Below are my suggestions for a wonderful evening depending on your situation:
Not-yet-official, Friends with Benefits Valentine’s – Ibiza
Official Boyfriend/Girlfriend First Valentine’s – Grand Concourse
Husband/Wife First Valentine’s – Monterey Bay
Husband/Wife Non-first Valentine’s – Chick fil-A
Divorced Woman/Cat Valentine’s – P.F. Chang’s take-out
Single Guy/Redtube Valentine’s – Papa John’s delivery
My friend HGB, purveyor of the über-successful blog The Steel Trap, recommends Casbah, Soba, Eleven and Il Pizzaiolo. To quote her “I believe a true couple can create romance anywhere, but in these places, romance is inevitable.” An expensive bill is also inevitable at these swanky restaurants, but for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, they’re definitely worth it.
